This week we wrapped up the live component of our first-ever SCC Online Series, after 12 weeks and 12 live webinars featuring ophthalmologists and industry experts from around Australia and New Zealand.
Optometrists from across ANZ participated in the series, with each live event attracting upwards of 300-400 participants.
These live events were also supplemented with written articles and on-demand videos covering topics including glaucoma diagnosis and co-management, diabetic retinopathy screening, KeepSight, optic discs, managing diseases, AMD, collaborative care and more, and delivered educational content tailored for clinical optometry practice and a strong supply of therapeutics points.
Six sponsors, including Johnson & Johnson, Alcon, Bausch & Lomb, BOC Instruments, CooperVision, and Good Optical came on board to support the event and provided additional CPD-accredited articles and videos.
One of the best aspects of the SCC Online Series has been its accessibility. Despite distances, and time zones and lockdowns, we’ve had optometrists from Perth to Auckland logging into the same webinar and having direct access to leading Australian and New Zealand ophthalmologists.
The virtual format makes has made it easy for optometrists to participate and engage in the content and ask questions, and our ability to record and post the sessions on the MyCPD portal means that they can be accessed at any time via our MyCPD portal, even if people haven’t been able to attend the webinar in person.
The highlight of the series has been the engagement from the optometry community. It has been great to see so many optometrists from a broad range of practices and clinical settings from all around Australia and New Zealand participate in the series and actively engage in professional development opportunities.
We were also thrilled to announce our Doug Perkins Winners for 2020, Specsavers Ipswich in Queensland and Specsavers Queenstown.
And our seven SCCO door prize winners for the series were Cin Song Yek, Serena Istayfan, Mark Bonham, Khan Nguyen, Linda Ea, Jessica Yan and Nicole Nguyen.
Recordings of the live webinars, along with additional CPD content from the series will be available for Specsavers and non-Specsavers optometrists until November 30. Participants are also able to download a summary of all their activities and the corresponding CPD points until this time.
