Optometrist Chris Papatheodorou has joined the Specsavers Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) Optometry Department to lead its clinical support team.
Chris has a successful history in optics in various roles, with his optometry career spanning almost 30 years. He has lectured in optical dispensing, sat on various professional boards and councils, acted as a clinic supervisor in optometry, and held professional services manager roles.
He is currently the Optometry Partner at Specsavers Burwood in New South Wales, which follows a successful tenure as the Optometry Partner at Specsavers Castle Hill. As previously reported, he was also appointed to the Specsavers ANZ Board in March 2017.
Chris will continue to support the Burwood store while additionally taking up his role to drive clinical excellence across the Specsavers ANZ network. In his new position, he will be leading, coaching and developing a team of clinical support consultants to deliver training and development to optometrists and store teams.
Each consultant is tasked with assisting stores in optimising their optometry teams through coaching, mentoring, training interventions, and in-room and in-store observations. They also support business planning, and share learnings around best practice and clinical efficiencies.
“I’m looking forward to growing the clinical support team to provide further assistance to stores seeking to optimise their patient outcomes,” Chris said. “The technology in our profession is continually moving forward, and I’m particularly excited to help optometrists understand how to efficiently implement these new advancements in their practice.”
