Building on its remarkable first-year success, the Specsavers Dispensing Conference returns in 2018, with registration now extended to both Specsavers and non-Specsavers optical dispensers.
More than 430 optical dispensers and students attended the inaugural Specsavers Dispensing Conference in 2017, and this year, even greater numbers are anticipated as the event has been opened up to the wider dispensing community. The inclusion of non-Specsavers delegates at the 2nd Specsavers Dispensing Conference (SDC2) is expected to create more diverse networking opportunities and allow for an even broader scope of discourse throughout the event.
Commenting on the decision, Richard Couch, Head of Dispensing Advancement, said, “Dispensing excellence has limited impact in isolation. Only by collectively working towards professional advancement, and by openly sharing knowledge and experience with our peers, can we truly lift the standards of dispensing.”
SDC2 will feature an increased academic focus and include acknowledged world-class speakers, with driving lenses and blue light among the topical subjects on offer. The conference program includes two international guest speakers from the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO), UNSW Emeritus Professor Stephen Dain, and Dr Lewis Williams from the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE), among others. Delegates will also be able to customise their learning by selecting from a range of workshops according to their areas of interest and professional development goals.
The conference will be held in multiple locations throughout Australia from 12 to 17 August, with New Zealand arrangements to be announced soon. For the full schedule of dates and locations and to register, visit the SDC2 event page.
