International Women’s Day: Specsavers commitment to #breakthebias
International Women’s Day is a global day to recognise achievements of all women, celebrate their diverse backgrounds and unique contributions to the world. The day also marks a call-to-action for accelerating women’s equality. As part of Specsavers People Ambition to create an inclusive environment where our people feel proud to belong, we are committed to #breakthebias.
Our colleagues in Specsavers will be championing their own pledge to #breakthebias:
“I am committed to breaking the bias through the loud celebration of my colleagues, friends and family. Providing support, cheer, counsel and love so that all women have a seat at the table to effect change for the betterment of us all” – Rachael Dickie – Project Manager
“Since joining Specsavers, I’ve been blessed to be led by, supported and cared for by my incredible female colleagues in the legal team. They have not only created a high performing team, but empowered us all to be brave, confident and reach our full potential” – Jackson Bilu – Legal Counsel
“I will always call out conscious and unconscious bias in all conversations, no matter who it is with or where I am” – Jonathan Roach-Ellis – Director of Audiology Retail
“While female representation in Technology is growing, it’s growing less than 1% per year. As the TA Partner recruiting for Technology we are working together to increase female representation across our Technology Department” – Maria Muscat – Talent Acquisition Partner
“I want to empower and educate my nieces about the importance of equality and to stand up for themselves and others” – Joanne Cardwell – Receptionist / Administration Coordinator
“I want to encourage my boys to express and speak freely about their emotions and to treat everyone equally” – Brogan Attard-Dickson – Receptionist / Administration Coordinator
“As a Talent Acquisition Business Partner at Specsavers, ensuring every candidate is given equal opportunity” – Amanda Kalansuriya – Talent Acquisition Partner
