The final two speakers in the Specsavers Dispensing Conference (SDC3) program have been revealed to be representatives of two major lens manufacturers.
SDC3 will be held as a one-day, roadshow-style conference in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney from 4 to 9 August 2019, with presentations from six speakers.

Sofia Fazal
One of these speakers will be Sofia Fazal, Professional Services Manager for Carl Zeiss Vision UK. In her interactive session, Sofia will explore the visual demands and requirements of the ‘pre-presbyopic patient’ – young adults who are facing increasing visual demands due to the current digital era. The presentation will include an overview of the signs and symptoms exhibited by pre-presbyopic patients with digital eye strain, as well as how effective optical solutions can be tailored to these patients’ unique requirements to enhance their visual experience. A range of patient case study examples will also be discussed to explore best practice dispensing.

Craig Johnston
Craig Johnston, National Sales and Marketing Manager at Younger Optics, will be delivering a lecture on polarisation, with a focus on NuPolar polarised lenses. In addition to exploring the technology and benefits of NuPolar lenses, Craig will speak about the broader history of polarisation and where photochromic polarised products fit in the spectacle world. He will discuss potential problems associated with polarisation in spectacle lenses and how to troubleshoot these issues while dispensing. The presentation will conclude with practical tips on how to dispense and promote polarised lenses.
Sofia and Craig are part of a world-class speaker line-up that includes Donald Crichton FBDO from the International Opticians Association, Alicia Thompson FBDO and Miranda Richardson FBDO from the Association of British Dispensing Opticians, and headlined by Professor Mo Jalie, author of the core dispensing text Principles of Ophthalmic Lenses.
