Limited spaces for UK-based OCANZ training

Registrations are closing soon for a UK-based course that provides OCANZ clinical exam preparation to optometrists seeking to practise in Australia or New Zealand.

The Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand (OCANZ) – an external agency that assesses optometry programs outside of the Aus / NZ region – will hold clinical exams in June and November 2019. Overseas qualified optometrists need to pass both the written and clinical OCANZ exams in order to practise in Australia or New Zealand.

Eyecare, a UK-based independent provider of Continuing Education and Training (CET) for the optical industry, will hold a three-day training course from 15 to 17 April 2019 in Manchester, UK specifically designed to help optometrists prepare for the practical aspect of the OCANZ exams.

Course features include:

  • Information and studies on all three sections of the OCANZ examination process, with tips provided on how to complete each section
  • Practical training on all skills stations, with a focus on keeping within the examination guidelines and timings
  • The opportunity to meet and network with other OCANZ candidates going through the same qualification process.

The course is also approved for 21 interactive CET points.

Registration for Eyecare’s OCANZ Practical Preparation course closes on 29 March 2019, and limited spaces remain. For more information, visit

Specsavers also offers a support service for overseas-based optometrists. To find out more, contact Maddy Curran on or visit the Specsavers OCANZ Support page.
