Specsavers is delighted to have won the 2017 Reader’s Digest Gold Quality Service Award after being voted by the New Zealand public as the optometrist offering the best customer service.

The independent annual survey, commissioned by Reader’s Digest and conducted by Catalyst Marketing and Research, canvassed a representative sample of 1,500 NZ adults.

Respondents were asked to nominate service providers across a wide variety of sectors, including supermarkets, women’s clothing outlets, retirement villages, roadside assistance, jewellers, hotels, and internet service providers, among others.

In determining the award winners over 40 categories, those surveyed were asked to rank their experience in relation to certain criteria, with some of the questions including:

  • Was an individual customer experience provided?
  • Was a genuine insight into the customer’s needs demonstrated?
  • Was dealing with the company quick and easy?
  • Was a consistently high-quality service delivered?
  • Was the customer’s expectations met and, even better, exceeded?

Specsavers emerged the Gold Winner for the Optometrist category.

The Reader’s Digest Quality Service Award is the latest in a string of accolades for Specsavers. Other titles gained in recent years include 2015 Australian Retailers Association Retail Employer of the Year, 2016 Millward Brown Research No. 1 For Eye Tests, and 2016 Franchise Council of Australia Excellence in Marketing Award winner.

According to Reader’s Digest, the Quality Service Awards, which were introduced in 2015, are designed to give NZ consumers the opportunity to share their views about companies that consistently deliver the best customer service. The awards also provide the public with a list of companies they can turn to knowing they can expect an excellent level of service.
