Specsavers and the Retail Training Design team are celebrating after being announced multi-award winners of the Global LearnX Awards, receiving four accolades in three categories, including Best Pandemic Response, Best Learning Technology and Best Talented Team.
The virtual award ceremony held on 17 – 18 November recognised Specsavers for our learning and development programs including our COVID-19 response and subsequent retail store approach. The team received the Platinum award for the eLearning design and the Diamond award for the L&D pandemic training. In addition, our team was recognised for our iLearn implementation, winning a Platinum award in the Best Talented Team and a Gold award for our innovative platform.
Denise Mossop, Head of Retail Training Design, said, “We entered the four LearnX categories to showcase the skills and our approach to all of the learning and training programs, including our response to the pandemic and how we implemented these programs within our store network.
“These are significant achievements in the T&D industry and great recognition for our team’s hard work and dedication to ensure our stores are equipped with best practice learning and development programs, utilising the latest technology available,” adds Denise.
The LearnX Award is an annual event that acknowledges innovative workforce learning and showcases projects and solutions that deliver best practices and business value. It is an international awards program that also recognises multiple fields within learning, development, and talent management across the corporate, education and public-service sectors worldwide.
More about the winning programs:
Pandemic Response
eLearning design – Platinum award
The Retail Training Design team developed and launched an urgent response to training to provide the store with clear, concise and easy-to-understand information on the new operations processes in-store and how to communicate with customers embarking on a new COVID-safe customer journey. The ‘Open with you in Mind’ module was a critical piece of training to help team members feel confident they know COIVD-safe plans and implement them.
L&D Approach – Diamond award
Specsavers quickly developed its COVID-19 response strategy, providing support during the initial stages where stores were closed and/or limited to only ‘Open for Care’, including providing support at the other end to drive demand and grow the business as restrictions eased. The team aligned the training offer to this business strategy, including the initial and rebound stages, which was a quick pivot to remote learning with developing a range of learning to support.
Best Learning Technology: iLearn – Gold award
The iLearn platform, launched in May 2021, is a learning management system offering one place to communicate and share training with stores. The platform provides rapid training to support the constantly changing environment in store including new systems, products, processes, and customer journey developments. The platform makes it easier for stores to find and undergo learning and is more personalised to review people’s progress and report more efficiently. It has made training in-store more accessible and engaging.
Best Talented Team: Platinum award
The Retail Training Design team is recognised as a highly talented professional team that successfully managed the design, development, and implementation of the new iLearn platform. The team worked closely with stores and our support office, delivering a fantastic new learning system.
