SCC Brings Industry Together with Record Attendance
Specsavers successfully launched its 10th SCC on May 18 in Melbourne at the Langham Hotel with the largest attendance in history. Registrations well-exceeded expectations, with more than 1,000 registered to livestream and almost 100 attended in person.
Due to the uncertainty around the global pandemic, we were unsure how the industry felt about coming together in person or do what has become the ‘new normal’ and livestream. We offered both and let our industry decide!
This year’s first in-person event included a stellar speaking line-up, including Specsavers Dr Ben Ashby, Director of Optometry, kicking off the series and Dr Elaine Chong from the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital. Dr Chong delivering an engaging talk on managing patients with corneal dystrophies.
While celebrating 10 years of delivering SCC’s, we now embark on a new milestone. This first-ever hybrid event format will give attendees the option to view the session from the comfort of their home, while also allowing professionals the opportunity to socialise and network in person.
The event series will run throughout May until October, with all events being livestreamed across Australia and New Zealand, including in-person events planned for Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Auckland.
