Specsavers’ Spotlight Engage leadership wellbeing program has won the LearnX Platinum Award in the Best Wellbeing Project category.

‘Engage’ is one of the three courses available in the Spotlight leadership development program, which is designed specifically for Specsavers’ store partners. Spotlight Engage is a two-day retreat that explores and works with the concepts and principles of positive psychology and resilience. Partners are given tools, strategies and techniques to help them bring their best self to work and maintain positivity and energy in the fast-paced and constantly changing retail environment.

The course was created by Dr Paige Williams, PhD, a positive psychology expert and lecturer at the University of Melbourne’s industry-renowned Centre for Positive Psychology. Dr Williams co-facilitates the course alongside the Specsavers Retail Training & Development team.

The LearnX Impact Awards are run annually by the LearnX Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation promoting innovative workforce learning and supporting technologies. The awards were presented in late October as part of the LearnX Live! Summit, a conference that attracts the leading learning and training industry organisations in Australia. Specsavers Head of Partner Engagement Danny Ginsberg acted as Master of Ceremonies for the event and also delivered a presentation about Spotlight Engage.

“We wanted to give partners an opportunity to have the ‘spotlight’ on them away from their busy roles, and to invest in themselves for the long term to flourish at home and work,” Danny explained. “We also hope that these leaders take what they’ve learned about how to develop their own wellbeing and resilience and drive these same concepts within their broader teams.”

This is the second time Specsavers has won a LearnX Award. Last year, Specsavers’ CREATE development program was named the Platinum Award winner in the Best Training and Capability Development Program category.
