Budding optometrists were given the opportunity to speak directly with Specsavers representatives during a series of recent university visits.
Over February and March 2017, the Professional Development Team hosted evening events for 129 optometry students from UNSW, the University of Melbourne, and Deakin University.
The team members involved included Head of Professional Recruitment Australia & New Zealand Raj Sundarjee, Professional Development Manager Tina Adel, Graduate Optometry Development Manager Sophie Stephan, and Graduate Recruitment Managers Lauren Sadler and Sarah Lee.
Information was provided on Specsavers’ Graduate, Student Membership and Clinical Placement programs, and attendees were given first-hand accounts of the Specsavers journey from current optometrists. Myths and concerns were also dispelled through a Q&A panel, which proved popular at all three events.
Each evening concluded with a fun group puzzle activity that helped the students understand how with proper training, planning and support, a complex task can be achieved within a short amount of time.
