Our Transforming Eye Health Strategy focuses on early detection, earlier diagnosis, earlier referrals, and earlier treatment of eye diseases. And an important part of that strategy is understanding the systems and structures in place that we need to work within to enable us to achieve these goals.
Two of the key enablers for reducing the rates of avoidable blindness in any country, in particular Australia and New Zealand, is access to eye care. And access to eye care is controlled by the size of the optometric workforce and the way that eye testing is funded.
In this video, our Director of Optometry, Dr Ben Ashby and Director of Communications, Charles Hornor, discuss the key eye health enablers identified in our Eye Health Report 2019-20. Download the full report here.
