Graduate optometrists in Western Australia broadened their professional network during a Specsavers-hosted walking tour of the inner city Perth suburb, Northbridge.
In addition to current first-year and second-year members of the Specsavers Graduate Program, attendees at the inaugural WA graduate networking event included clinical placement students and Graduate Program alumni.
Members of the group hailed from the University of Auckland, QUT and Deakin University, and were accompanied by Specsavers Professional Development Manager Tina Adel and WA Regional Relationship Managers Katie Redfearn and Ron New.
The event, held on the evening of 17 June 2017, was led by a professional tour guide, who provided the group with interesting facts and information about Perth’s history and heritage as they explored the local area, starting at Northbridge Piazza and ending at The Dominion League. The group also stopped at the venues Frisk and Lot Twenty along the way, where they socialised over food and drinks.
The event offered attendees an opportunity to become better acquainted with other optometrists in the region, and to build and expand their professional support network in a fun and relaxed setting.
Given the success of the event, Specsavers plans to hold more graduate networking functions in future.
