A daytime workshop followed by a CPD evening will be held for those participating in the first year of the Specsavers Graduate Program.

Taking place in six regions across Australia and New Zealand from 10-26 April, the event provides both mentors and mentees an opportunity to gain further support and education as they progress through the program.

During the day, the Graduate Professional Development Team will host a ‘How well do you know your graduate?’ workshop, which will focus on improving professional relationships between first-year graduates and the retail and optometry partners mentoring them.

Graduates will convene to recap the Graduate Induction and discuss the wins and challenges they’ve experienced in their first few months. Meanwhile, in a separate forum, store partners will be given a chance to share how the tools provided at the Primary Mentor workshop are being implemented to support the performance and development of their graduates. The groups will then join to reflect on the first three months in-store and learn more about how both parties can contribute towards an improved graduate journey.

The workshop will be followed by a CPD evening, which will attract up to 6 CPD points. The first portion of the night will involve Grand Rounds, where graduates will be able to exchange knowledge, review patient management, and receive feedback from their peers through case discussions.

Attendees will also hear from an ophthalmologist local to the host region, who will present on the topic of age-related macular degeneration, with a focus on the RANZCO pathway.

The workshop and CPD evening is one of several touch points offered as part of the Specsavers Graduate Program, which is structured to ensure both store partners and graduates are fully supported throughout the two-year graduate journey.
