Specsavers Clinical Conference Returns in 2023

Specsavers Clinical Conference (SCC) will return with as a hybrid event this October 28-29,
providing two days of CPD content from an incredible line-up of industry-leading speakers.
SCC, which is now in its 12th year, will feature an in-person conference at the Hotel Sofitel
Sydney Darling Harbour, as well as being broadcast live online for optometrists across
Australia and New Zealand.
“SCC continues to be a highlight of the ANZ optometry professional development calendar,”
says Cindy Nguyen Specsavers Head of Professional Development.
“After delivering the event both in-person and virtually across the past few years, we asked
our optometrists which mode of delivery they preferred. And while some optometrists relish
the opportunity to attend in person, others, especially those who live and work regionally and
remotely, really appreciate the ability to upskill and improve their clinical skills and
knowledge from the comfort of their own home.”
To ensure the conference is available to as many optometrists as possible, SCC 2023 event
will be available as an in-person event in Sydney with strictly limited places, and also be
available online and on-demand.
Using the latest technology, and a custom-built platform including a website and app, SCC
2023 will deliver a seamless experience for delegates, whether they are attending in person
or watching at home.
“One of Specsavers key focuses is ensuring the ongoing professional development of our
optometrists,” says Cindy. “We pride ourselves on delivering a range of experiences across
the year to ensure that our optometrists stay ahead of new trends and technology and are at
the forefront of clinical practice.
“Offering SCC as an online or ‘virtual’ event over the past few years has enabled us to
ensure our optometrists have access to this valuable education, no matter where they are
located. So, we wanted to make sure we continued to deliver that, as well as delivering an
exciting in-person conference for those who prefer to travel and attend in person.”
In-person tickets will go on sale in April and be available on a first come first serve basis.
This year’s conference will include another stellar line-up of industry leaders, offering both
interactive and therapeutic CPD content.
The event will also see the announcement of the winners of the annual prestigious Doug
Perkins Medal, which is awarded to one Australian and one New Zealand store each year
that consistently demonstrates high standards of clinical excellence. We will also be
announcing the Dame Mary Perkins Award for Outstanding Patient Care.
