Our ambitions for a positive future

We’re all about changing lives through better sight and hearing, but we can only do the great things we do if we work to look after our planet and communities, as well as our patients and colleagues. So, it’s important to us that we can work to put sustainability at our forefront. And with targets being set left, right and centre, we’re well on our way to doing just that.

Our Planet Ambition

The one thing we all have in common is the home we share, and we all have a responsibility to reduce the impact we have on our planet.

After all, without our planet, there’s no us. So, we want to make a difference to our planet by achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and reducing the environmental impact of our operations through elimination, reduction, substitution and collaboration.

This will involve reducing our operational emissions, focusing on the materials we use, the way they’re produced, where they come from, how they get to us, our packaging and product waste, as well as what happens to our products once they reach the end of their life.

Our Community Ambition

Our unique partnership structure means that every Specsavers store is locally owned and run by passionate members of the local community and every customer and team member is cared for as family.

This structure, and our place in the community, gives us a chance to play an even bigger, more responsible role in society. So, we’re pushing ourselves even further to make sure no one gets left behind when it comes to accessing sight and hearing care services and support, regardless of their circumstances. Our long-term partnership with The Fred Hollows Foundation is helping to restore sight and provide much needed eye care to so many people in Australia and Fiji, giving them a chance for a brighter future.

Our People Ambition

We wouldn’t be anything without our people: our partners and store teams, supply chain teams and support office teams who help to change lives on a daily basis. We want Specsavers to be a place where everyone, from all walks of life and across the globe, is proud to belong.

We’ll do this by providing greater opportunities for our people to make a positive difference in their community and live more sustainably, through more accessible careers, better care and wellbeing programmes, and having an inclusive culture where everyone feels welcome, valued, supported and able to fulfil their potential.
