Specsavers is participating in First Responders Day, an initiative spearheaded by the he Australian Retailers’ Association as a thank you to all of Australia’s first responders who have put their own health and wellbeing on the line to support the country during the coronavirus pandemic.

The initiative, which takes place on Thursday, June 25, enables medical and health workers, as well as police officers and firefighters, to head into any Specsavers store to receive 25% off on one complete pair from our $149 range or above.

The date was specifically chosen by the Australian Retail Association to fall on a Thursday – the only consistent late-night shopping day – to allow shift workers the ability to take advantage of the offers.

The discount is applicable on all lens types and any lens options for single vision lenses, with the exception of safety eyewear, and cannot be used in conjunction with other offers. First responders will need to identify themselves via a photo ID or be in uniform at the time of purchase.

ARA chief executive Paul Zahra said, following the devastating bushfire and flood season and the COVID-19 pandemic, it was more important than ever for Australians to band together.

“This is the first time the ARA has developed such a wide-reaching campaign, and what better cause than to support the Australians who have worked tirelessly to serve us these last few months,”  Mr Zahra said.

“Australia’s First Responders have been true heroes in the past six months. It’s great to be able to say thank you… while driving sales for the industry.”

Specsavers is excited to take part to continue to support our first responders and frontline workers. We saw many of these workers reach out for support while we were open for care during March and April, with urgent eyecare requirements including repairs or replacement glasses as well as requests for new glasses as part of ‘at work’ PPE setup.

By participating in First Responders Day we are able to continue to support these essential workers as they work tirelessly to see us through the pandemic.

In addition to the Specsavers offer, first responders will also be able to access a variety of discounts and specials from other major retailers such as JB Hi-Fi, Myer, Target, BCF, Rebel, Michael Hill, Macpac, and Starbucks – among many others.
